It has now been approximately 36 hours since John and I ended our most awesome annual vacation in Yosemite. Is three years in a row sufficient for "annual" status? I think so. It was great, I got to spend time with my parents (who have a house in Oakhurst, just south of the park) AND John's parents, who I love dearly, in addition to all kinds of amazing Petalumens who retreat as a group. We wined, dined, and enjoyed the air, trees and waters. My dad actually got his boat working and we spent an afternoon zooming around Bass lake. We saw a bear in the valley, a couple of deer kept showing up near the house we stayed in, and I finally learned that squirrels are wild animals with very sharp teeth and I should not feed them because they bite.
Too bad we had to come home. I have a midterm today, and projects due the next two days, and I am having all kinds of trouble motivating myself to even care. Let alone study.
I do not, however, miss ugly wood paneling and rusticated stone fireplaces. Blah. Those can stay in the forest.
always, carolyn
